Oct 18, 2021 - Nov 17, 2021

Published: October 18, 2021

The Program in Indo-European Studies and the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles, have been authorized to make an appointment to a full-time position in Ancient Anatolian languages and cultures, at open rank (Assistant [tenure-track], Associate/Full Professor [with tenure]), effective July 1, 2022. We invite applications from scholars with philological and linguistic expertise in Ancient (Indo-European) Anatolian languages, principally Hittite, Luvian, and Lycian; expertise in other Ancient Anatolian languages would also be welcome. In addition to linguistic competence, the successful candidate should also have strength in one or more areas of Indo-European and Ancient Anatolian culture that would enhance the profiles of the Program in Indo-European Studies, the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, and potentially other UCLA academic units (such as the Department of Classics, the Center for the Study of Religion); such areas include (but are not limited to) mythology, poetics, religion, and social or political history.
